With a recent spike in ATO scams, it is important for you to know what to look for when you are contacted regarding your tax matters.

The ATO will NEVER:
• ask you to pay money to receive a refund or payment
• ask you to pay a debt via a prepaid credit card or voucher
• ask you to provide personal information, like your TFN or credit card number, via email or SMS
• request your credit card details to process a payment on your behalf

Don’t forget these fraudsters may use fake websites, bogus emails and send professional-looking documents to make these scams look authentic. Guard your personal information closely and do not trust website links that are emailed to you – they can be a route to copycat sites.

If you or someone you know receives a phone call, email or SMS that you are not sure about, do not panic and give us a call on (02) 4934 4260.

Please share with your family and friends!
